This winter, Jetty Road welcomes Ballet Wine Bar. Set to become the hottest new spot in Glenelg, it is inspired by the wine bars of Europe. Owners, Mike and Mel, both have strong hospitality backgrounds running other local hotspots including Sabai and Polk. They knew they had the experience to make it happen.

We asked Mike how it all came about, “The idea came after I got back from a trip to Europe with my fiancé, Emily. While travelling, we spent nights out in the new and funky wine bars chasing various wines from France and Italy and then thought, why doesn’t Glenelg have this type of venue? After a few conversations with Mel and other potential business partners, the idea slowly came to life.”

At Ballet Wine Bar, you'll find a beautiful French-inspired interior, large open windows and a unique mix of boutique, old world and European wines while also incorporating some of Australia's best impressions of the European grape varietals. Enjoy wines, craft beers, classic cocktails, and a selection of gins and whiskeys. And, when it comes to food, they've got you covered, offering small plates that are seasonally changing to pair with different wines and the mood of the season.

The vibe is equal parts old-world charm and modern elegance. The team at SMFA Architects and Elite Building Co. brought the vision to life with the design, making every nook feel special. Whether you're relaxing downstairs, cosying up in the intimate tasting room upstairs or hiring out the space for small parties, private tasting, and service.

Mike and Mel have big plans to host special events. “We want to have special events with different winemakers and wine companies to showcase new vintages.”
